A beautifully detailed antique Chinese silk embroidery panel combining smooth satin stitching with intricate raised Peking knot embroidery (also known as forbidden stitch) creating texture and dimension.
The antique panel has been affixed to a cardboard backing for framing and there has been a later decorative floral silk brocade border and a wide black silk covered outer mat added. These things were most likely done in the Mid-20th Century.
CIRCA: Inset panel appears older than border, Inset is likely 1880-1920 with border being added most likely Mid-20th Century
ORIGIN: Attributed to China

The inset panel exhibits age-related discoloration, surface wear and areas of deterioration consistent with an older textile. The surrounding brocade mat and mounting are later additions.
