The long, slender seat is formed from a single narrow plank with softly rounded edges, raised on an A-frame base composed of slightly splayed legs joined by paired horizontal stretchers.

Shaped apron sections and projecting corner brackets provide subtle architectural detail beneath the seat while retaining the bench's clean, utilitarian character. The rich blue painted surface displays extensive natural rubbing, scratches and small areas of loss accumulated through use, allowing glimpses of the underlying wood and creating an appealing, layered patina.

With its particularly narrow seat and compact proportions, this vintage Chinese bench can be used in an entryway, beneath a console, at the foot of a bed, or simply as a decorative accent. Its strong color gives the restrained form considerable presence. Similar benches in additional painted colors are also available separately. See less
