This is basically the same design as Emilio Lancia created in the 30s to the 50s. This is a modern piece however it is still labelled Italy. Because his bench designs can reach between 5 and 10 thousand current manufacturers have recreated the piece. It is labelled underneath ITALY. I believe the wood is cherry. Cherry is a favorite in Italy since it is easy to carve. The design is a single slat gondola style with a sweeping back. It is a nod to architectural design, Deco and Mid Century modern. It is meant to be a hall bench but sturdy enough to use as living room seating or at the end of the bed. The fabric is a clean stripe in a taupe and black with tiny nail heads all the way around.
