Vintage 20th century italian set of nine stacked bowls designed by tommaso barbi. When nested together, the individual bowls form a beautifully proportioned egg shaped object, transforming a functional tableware set into a distinctive piece of italian modernist design. Each bowl is executed in chromium plated metal, with highly polished reflective surface. The set can be displayed fully assembled as a sculptural decorative object or separated into its nine individual serving bowls. The graduated forms nest neatly together, culminating in the domed upper section and giving the assembled piece its characteristic egg shape. A particularly playful and sophisticated example of 1970s italian design, combining functionality with the bold, futuristic aesthetic associated with the period.
