A handsome pair of solid brass fireplace andirons (firedogs) featuring large spherical ball finials topped with turned knobs, multi-ringed baluster columns, and boldly cast bases centered with stylized lion head masks flanked by acanthus leaves. The bases terminate in paw feet. Each has a wrought-iron log bar with a small brass ball finial. The brass retains a warm, aged golden patina with natural surface wear, minor scratches, and the expected tarnish in recessed areas—consistent with age and prior use. The casting is substantial and well-detailed. Total weight is 28 lbs for the pair, giving them a satisfying, quality presence. These are classic in form and would suit a traditional, neoclassical, English, or Colonial Revival fireplace. The lion-mask motif and ball finials are hallmarks of late 19th- and early 20th-century fireplace accessories.
