This substantial decorative earthenware piece features an expressive fish with an exaggerated open mouth, prominent eye, deeply incised overlapping scales, and beautifully detailed fins. The sculptural construction creates an extraordinary variety of textures, from smooth, glossy glazed surfaces to deeply grooved, raised, and rustic areas.

Rich cobalt blue, golden yellow, creamy ivory, and warm terracotta tones enhance the intricate detailing. The glaze settles into the deeply incised scales and fins, creating wonderful variations in color, texture, and dimension.

The fish has an unusual shallow bowl form supported by a raised circular pedestal foot. Its irregular contours, dimensional features, and richly textured finish give it the distinctive character of traditional folk art pottery.

The underside has a smooth, glossy terracotta-colored finish, providing an interesting contrast to the heavily textured decorative surfaces.

This is a sculptural decorative console bowl intended for display rather than food service. Its generous proportions and expressive design make it a wonderful statement piece for a console table, sideboard, coffee table, or coastal-inspired interior.

- Approximately 13½ inches from mouth to tail
- Approximately 13½ inches across the fins
