For the Portieux Vallerysthal collector who has everything, these tiny turquoise treasures might just be the ultimate stocking stuffer! Petite, pretty and très French: a fabulous pair of Portieux Vallerysthal blue opaline liqueur glasses, with the gorgeous turquoise-blue color and wonderfully sculptural stems that make this French glassware so collectible. This diminutive liqueur size is especially difficult to find—a wonderful opportunity to add a scarce little pair to a collection.
Each diminutive glass stands just 3.625" high (frankly, adorable), with a softly rounded bowl set atop an elegant molded stem with a distinctive double-knop profile and flared circular foot. Especially nice for identification, both glasses retain remnants of their original Portieux Vallerysthal paper labels. Their tiny scale makes them especially charming—perfect for serving liqueurs and cordials, or simply displayed alongside other pieces of colorful vintage glass.
Portieux Vallerysthal produced this distinctive opaline stemware in a range of sizes. A comparison photograph shows this petite liqueur size alongside the larger 4.5" wine glass and 6.5" water glass from the same family; only the pair of liqueur glasses is included in this listing.
Portieux Vallerysthal has a long and fascinating history in French glassmaking. The Portieux glassworks traces its origins to the early 18th century, when François Magnien established a glassworks in the Vosges region under the patronage of Duke Leopold of Lorraine. Vallerysthal began glass production in Lorraine in 1836. Following the Franco-Prussian War and the annexation of the Vallerysthal region by Germany, Vallerysthal joined with Portieux, allowing the company to continue serving the French market.
