A complete four-piece vintage Italian majolica soup tureen set: a covered tureen with a fluted finial and molded handles, a matching ladle and a scalloped underplate. Each piece is hand-painted with sunflowers and blue flowers in yellow, cobalt and green, with feather-stroke leaf borders and yellow-orange fluted rims. It’s meant for soup, but it also works as a centerpiece on a sideboard or a dining table. The base is marked “Meiselman Imports / E. 480 / Made in Italy.” Italy, mid-20th century.

Maker: Made in Italy for Meiselman Imports
Material: Hand-painted glazed earthenware (majolica)
Dimensions: Platter 15½" W x 12½" D, about 10" H to the top of the finial
Includes: Tureen, lid, ladle, underplate

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Minor glaze loss on the handles, and some glaze loss on the lid knob, no cracks. There’s light wear, small glaze imperfections as made, and staining and rough terracotta on the foot rim. See photos. See less
