A matched set of six antique blue stick spatter (cut sponge) plates, each with a stamped fern wreath in the center and a border of fern fronds finished with a scalloped rim band. The soft variation in the blue from plate to plate gives them a charming, hand-made look. They work as a plate wall, a cabinet display or a country table. Probably Scottish or English earthenware, 19th century, circa 1870 to 1890.
