A Venetian gondola with a gondolier at the oar, captured in a substantial bronze sculpture that evokes the romance of European travel. Seahorse ornaments and chain detailing adorn the sides of the boat, while the oar bears a hand engraved “Venezia” inscription. Crafted using traditional multi-part sand casting, the heavy piece rests on a bronze stand shaped to resemble rippling water.
This distinctive late Victorian / Edwardian sculpture, associated with the Grand Tour tradition, makes it a striking accent for a library, study, or curated interior. Circa 1880s – 1910s.
Nice condition with slight white corrosion buildup. Please refer to the photos for details.
