This pair of vintage monumental scalloped green ceramic lamps presents a tall, elegantly swelling baluster silhouette, with broad shoulders that taper gently toward the foot and a short, straight neck. Crafted from porcelain, each body is hand-painted with overlapping, brushstroke scallops arranged in rhythmic, fish-scale rows that wrap the entire vessel. The pigment moves from soft sage and celadon to deeper moss green, with pale, creamy crescents left in reserve between the strokes, creating a lively, painterly texture. A narrow band of incised geometric chevrons in tone-on-tone celadon circles the neck, adding a crisp, architectural accent. The glaze is glossy and smooth, pooling slightly in the brushwork and catching the light across the curved surfaces, with tiny kiln speckles confirming the handmade character. Each body rests on a round, dark-stained wooden base, while polished brass fittings, including a stepped cap, slender stem, socket, and harp saddle, rise from the shoulder in a warm metallic gleam. Fresh, serene, and impressively scaled, the lamps feel like garden-inspired ceramic sculpture elevated into statement lighting.
Place these lamps on a console, sideboard, or bedside tables, or flank a sofa or fireplace, where their generous scale and cool green palette can anchor a room beneath a drum or empire shade. They complement Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, Coastal, Traditional, and Grandmillennial interiors. To care for them, unplug before cleaning, dust the porcelain with a soft dry cloth, wipe with a lightly dampened cloth, and polish the brass gently with a dry microfiber cloth, keeping moisture away from the wooden bases and electrical components. Each lamp measures 12.25 inches (311 mm) wide, 12.25 inches (311 mm) deep, and 27.25 inches (692 mm) high, measured to the top of the socket. Condition is very good, with a well-preserved glaze, minor surface wear, intact brass fittings with light patina, and no visible chips or cracks. Add this striking pair to your home today.
