An exquisite Continental decorative box featuring an intricate geometric arrangement of polished hard stones in a rich variety of natural colors and patterns. The rectangular lid and sides are decorated with a striking checkerboard design incorporating green malachite, warm amber colored stones, cream and brown banded stones, and other contrasting hard stones.
The beautifully fitted stone panels display distinctive natural veining, creating a mosaic of complementary colors and textures. The box is finished with silver trim featuring a warm gold vermeil finish, framing the stonework and accentuating its refined construction.
A central clasp and keyhole complete the design. The interior measures approximately 1.5 inches deep, providing space for jewelry, personal accessories, keepsakes or cigars. Original key is missing.
An elegant example of Continental decorative craftsmanship, combining the natural beauty of ornamental stones with finely executed geometric design.
