A large mid-twentieth-century Swedish cased art glass centerpiece attributed to Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors Glasbruk, circa 1955–1960, and associated with the Coquille series. The unsigned vessel measures 16.5 inches across and is formed as an elongated sculptural bowl with opposing pulled wings rising from a deeply curved central pocket.
The glass is constructed in multiple distinct layers enclosed within a substantial clear crystal casing. Pale pink and lilac passages are bordered by a narrow crimson-red line and deeper aubergine glass, while an internal white layer is progressively drawn and thinned through the extended wings. The resulting structure creates areas of graduated opacity and translucency, with the white glass becoming more attenuated toward the extremities of the pulled form.
The elongated profile is defined by pronounced bilateral extension from the central cavity, producing a low, biomorphic silhouette characteristic of postwar Scandinavian studio glass. The considerable 5.7 lb weight reflects the substantial cased construction, while the polished underside provides a stable base beneath the drawn form.
The piece is unsigned. Attribution to Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors Glasbruk and the Coquille series is based upon the form, colour architecture, multilayer cased construction, pulled-glass technique and comparison with documented Flygsfors Coquille examples; it is not presented as a definitively signed or authenticated example.
