Antique Victorian quality set of 3 brass fire irons consisting of a shovel, poker and fire tongs
My grandmother bought these early 1950's in Pittsburgh,PA. from the estate of Harry K Thaw (husband of Evelyn Nesbit, girl on the velvet swing. She bought 2 sets, one bronze, one brass. These are the polished brass, showing some age, scratches and patina.. They were used by my family once. A Log Poker for turning logs. Ash Shovel: designed with a wide, flat pan to easily scoop and remove ashes. Log Tongs: featuring an ornate pivot mechanism and double-shaft design base flat grippers, for gripping firewood. The handles are simply styled almost modern designs. Approx 27-29" length.. Shovel is 6" X 2" X 27.5" L Poker is 2" X 2" X 27.5" Long , Tongs 5" X 2" X 27.5" L These are heavy and beautifully made.
