The figures are beautifully modelled with elongated ears, expressive faces and textured surfaces that give the hares a particularly sculptural quality. Their raised paws create the familiar boxing stance associated with hares during the spring breeding season, giving the pair a playful sense of movement and personality. Each hare stands independently upon an organically modelled integral base and is finished with a rich dark bronze patina with warm golden highlights across the raised areas. Displayed together, the opposing poses create an especially attractive and engaging composition. A charming decorative pair suitable for a country house, library, entrance hall or contemporary interior, and particularly appealing to collectors of animalier and wildlife sculpture.
