Executed in solid sterling silver, the pieces combine traditional drinking-vessel forms with the accomplished precious-metal craftsmanship associated with Sheffield. Each goblet is elegantly proportioned with a generous bowl raised upon a slender stem and spreading circular foot, creating a balanced and classical silhouette. The highly polished surfaces emphasise the natural lustre of the sterling silver and give the pieces a sophisticated decorative presence. The traditional chalice-inspired form draws upon centuries of European silver design, while the late 20th-century manufacture gives the pieces a particularly crisp and refined finish. Displayed together, they form an impressive ensemble suitable for a dining room, drinks cabinet or collection of British decorative silver. Produced by Camelot Silverware Ltd in Sheffield in 1994, the pieces are identified as solid sterling silver and British in origin. A substantial and elegant collection of British silverware combining traditional form, precious-metal construction and the enduring heritage of Sheffield silversmithing.
