This pretty piece was made in France by David Michael and it has been in our home since 2016.
It is the high end of the David Michael Dormeuse Model GL-1793 and and is from the David Michael Formal Collection and described on that site as;
"Handcrafted in Italy from solid European Cherry, this 2 Piece Chaise is finished in a stunning 24 Karat Gold Leaf. It features reversible down feather cushions for luxurious comfort and versatility."
This piece has had little use and is in the same condition it was in when purchased, No holes no scuffs, no damage to the fabric or trim and it is well made. It is covered in a silver/gray/ heavy silk brocade. A braided rope covers the edges of the seats and other edges. Underneath a trim is all around the white covering . It is stuffed with down. The legs are painted a beautiful nude color and then highlighted in 24 Karet Gold. This piece was in a reading nook in a bedroom when we purchased. And, when we moved, about 4 years ago, we put it in a bedroom but that room is smaller than the prior bedroom. and we need to downsize to a smaller house. When we purchased the piece the price we paid was $8,413.75. Our invoice is attached.
