Antique Japanese Lacquer Jewelry Box – Taisho Era
Charming small Japanese lacquer jewelry box featuring three drawers decorated with cranes, cherry blossoms, and gilt accents against a deep ox blood lacquer ground. The sides feature additional floral motifs, with original decorative metal pulls throughout.
The underside bears the handwritten inscription “Thelma Francis from Grandpa & Grandma D.J. & M.H. Wood. 1920”, providing a personal provenance and dated 1920 inscription. The date suggests the piece was likely acquired or presented around 1920, placing it within the Taishō era of Japan (1912–1926)....or late Meiji period.
