This item is a small, signed oil painting on canvas identified on the reverse label as R. G. Swanson and dated March 1971. The work depicts a bearded male figure in profile, painted with a dark background, warm yellow garment, and focused realist handling of the face and hair. The reverse label gives the artist’s name and an address in San Bruno, California, which fits an early period before Swanson became more widely associated with Arizona, Western subjects, and his later Native American portraiture. The painting is in good overall condition with wear that is consistent with usage. See less
