Standing approximately 16 cm high, the vase has an appealing compact scale and a classical rounded body that provides an excellent canvas for the detailed hand-painted decoration. The famille rose palette introduces delicate polychrome tones, giving the piece warmth, refinement and considerable decorative charm. The four-character mark to the underside adds further interest and reflects the long Chinese tradition of incorporating reign, studio and apocryphal marks into porcelain production. Its compact proportions make the vase particularly suitable for display on a mantelpiece, cabinet, console or within a collection of Chinese porcelain and Asian decorative arts. Presented in good condition with general age-related wear and character. A charming and highly decorative example of Chinese porcelain, combining traditional famille rose decoration, an elegant bulbous form and an interesting four-character mark.
