Well made and of good quality, this handsome cabinet features an unusual and thoughtfully arranged configuration that provides both display and concealed storage while maintaining elegant proportions. The lower section incorporates a glazed cabinet enclosing a single glass shelf, creating two practical display levels for china, glassware, collectibles and decorative objects. A bright white interior provides an attractive contrast against the richly figured walnut while creating a light backdrop that allows displayed pieces to remain clearly visible. Above the glazed section are two practical drop-down cupboards, providing useful additional enclosed storage. Their unusual configuration contributes considerably to the individuality and functionality of the cabinet. The piece retains its original handles and fittings, preserving its traditional character and complementing the overall design. Raised on elegant cabriole legs, the cabinet has a graceful and well-balanced silhouette. Their flowing form provides an attractive contrast to the architectural arrangement of the fitted cabinet above. The figured walnut is a particular highlight, displaying beautiful natural patterns, gorgeous grain and rich warm colouring throughout. The depth and variation within the timber provide considerable visual interest and give the cabinet a particularly attractive appearance. At 106.5 cm wide and only 36 cm deep, the cabinet provides generous storage and display capacity while maintaining a relatively shallow profile, making it especially versatile for a dining room, living room or hallway. Presented in good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 20th-century origin. A highly desirable figured walnut fitted cabinet combining glazed display space, two drop-down cupboards, original handles and fittings and graceful cabriole legs within an elegant and unusual design.
