The two hares are modelled standing upright on their hind legs with their front paws raised, creating the instantly recognisable spectacle of hares “boxing”. Their contrasting poses give the pair a wonderful sense of movement and personality when displayed together. Cast in solid bronze and individually finished by hand, the sculptures display finely modelled fur, expressive features and naturalistic anatomical detailing. The hand-applied patination further accentuates the sculptural surfaces and ensures subtle variations between individual castings. Both sculptures bear an “E&S” Crown foundry stamp to the base. Designed for either interior or exterior display, the pair would make an exceptional addition to a country garden, lawn, terrace, entranceway or conservatory, while their sculptural quality also lends itself beautifully to contemporary interiors. Bronze naturally develops additional character and patination when exposed to the elements, allowing the appearance of the sculptures to evolve over time.
