Made in solid silver during the reign of George V, the piece represents an elegant example of interwar British table silver. The original listing confirms the maker, solid-silver construction, Sheffield origin and 1926 date. The piece is beautifully conceived as a raised fruit or cake bowl, with a broad circular upper section elevated upon a pedestal base. This classical form creates a graceful and well-balanced silhouette while giving the tazza considerable presence when displayed as a table centrepiece. Its polished sterling silver surface emphasises the quality of the metalwork and reflects light elegantly across the gently shaped body. The restrained decoration allows the proportions and craftsmanship to take precedence, giving the piece a timeless character suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors. Harrison Brothers & Howson was a prominent Sheffield manufacturer of silverware and cutlery. The firm's attribution adds further collecting interest to this substantial piece, particularly alongside its precise 1926 date and solid sterling silver construction. Originally intended for presenting fruit, cakes or confectionery, the tazza remains entirely suitable for its original purpose while also serving as an impressive decorative centrepiece on a dining table, console or sideboard.
