The chair features an exceptionally bold architectural silhouette, formed from generously padded horizontal sections layered one above another. Large rounded arms create an almost tubular appearance, while the deep seat and substantial upholstered back provide a wonderfully inviting and comfortable seating position. The unusual stacked construction gives the chair a distinctly sculptural quality, reflecting the transition from Scandinavian Modernism towards the more expressive and playful forms associated with Postmodern design during the late 1970s and 1980s. Upholstered throughout in high-quality soft turquoise leather, the chair has tremendous visual presence. The distinctive colour beautifully complements its exaggerated rounded forms and makes it an excellent statement piece for a contemporary, Postmodern or eclectic interior. The chair stands upon contrasting black cylindrical legs, reinforcing its low-slung proportions and distinctive period aesthetic. Presented in excellent vintage condition with light age-related patination consistent with its circa 1980 manufacture. The leather has recently been professionally cleaned and treated and remains soft, supple and attractive.
