The decorative octagonal top creates a particularly attractive silhouette while providing a generous and practical surface for a lamp, books or decorative objects. The mahogany displays pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring, complemented by deep, warm tones that enhance the refined character of the piece. The table is raised upon finely turned legs, creating an elegant and traditionally proportioned base. A useful lower shelf provides additional space for books, magazines or decorative objects while contributing to the strength and balanced appearance of the design. The legs terminate in castors, allowing the table to be repositioned with relative ease and adding a practical period detail to the construction. Very well made and solidly constructed, the table is presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. The unusual octagonal form makes this a particularly decorative and versatile example, suitable as a side table, lamp table, occasional table or centre table within traditional, period-inspired or eclectic contemporary interiors.
