The vessel is fashioned in a graceful tapered form and fitted with a hinged flip-top cover surmounted by an ornamental acorn finial. A substantial scrolling handle complements the design, while the thumbpiece and capped spout are enriched with classical acanthus leaf decoration modelled in relief. The contrasting combination of brilliant cut glass and polished sterling silver gives the piece an impressive presence, reflecting the quality of traditional English silver and glass craftsmanship. The sterling silver mount is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1972, while the glass bears its original maker's mark. The jug has a practical liquid capacity of approximately 690 ml. Presented in very good vintage condition. The sterling silver remains free from noted holes, damage or repairs, while the glass is free from chips and interior blooming. There are no later engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms. The hinged cover functions correctly, and the carefully formed spout pours cleanly without dripping. Very clean and ready for use or display, this elegant piece would make an impressive addition to a collection of English silver, cut glass or fine barware.
