The figure dates to the Qing dynasty and stands an impressive 31 cm high. Modelled in the celebrated Blanc de Chine tradition, the figure is characterised by its refined monochromatic white glaze, graceful proportions and delicately sculpted detailing. The absence of coloured decoration places particular emphasis on the modelling of the flowing robes, serene expression and elegant posture of Guanyin. Blanc de Chine porcelain, historically associated with the renowned kilns of Dehua in Fujian Province, became celebrated for its smooth ivory-white appearance and its suitability for finely modelled devotional and decorative figures. The figure is hand-carved and bears a signature or impressed mark, adding further interest to the piece. Its substantial 31 cm height gives it excellent presence while retaining the contemplative elegance characteristic of traditional Guanyin imagery. Presented in good antique condition. The thumb of the right hand has undergone historic restoration, while two middle fingers on the same hand display minor chipping. No other significant damage or restoration is apparent. A refined and highly decorative example of Chinese Blanc de Chine porcelain, combining spiritual iconography, sculptural craftsmanship and timeless monochromatic elegance.
