Each figure is individually modelled with remarkable attention to historical costume, posture and character. Elaborate period dress, jewellery, weapons and royal accessories are rendered in intricate relief, while contrasting gilt, silvered and patinated finishes accentuate the sculptural detail and give the collection an exceptionally rich appearance. King henry viii is portrayed in his unmistakable broad tudor silhouette, dressed in lavish court attire with dramatically modelled sleeves and doublet. Queen elizabeth i appears in an intricately decorated gown with ruff collar and jewellery, capturing the ceremonial splendour of the elizabethan court. King charles i is presented in elegant 17th-century dress with his characteristic broad-brimmed hat and cane, while charles ii completes the group in richly detailed restoration-period costume. Each substantial figure is mounted upon an individually shaped polished onyx plinth bearing a metal name plaque identifying the monarch.
