The cabinet is surmounted by a finely figured white marble top, providing an elegant contrast against the deep, warm tones and dramatic natural figuring of the burr walnut below. A single glazed front door opens to reveal a striking deep red interior fitted with a mirrored back and single fixed shelf. The mirror enhances both light and depth within the cabinet, creating an attractive setting for displaying porcelain, glassware, objets d'art or other treasured pieces. The exterior is enriched with delicate inlaid decoration, highlighting the quality and attention to detail characteristic of fine Victorian cabinetmaking. The exceptional burr walnut displays particularly attractive swirling grain patterns and rich colour throughout. Raised upon a substantial plinth base, the cabinet has a beautifully balanced architectural profile while retaining relatively compact proportions. The cabinet retains its key and is presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A highly decorative and sophisticated example of Victorian furniture, combining burr walnut, marble, glass and mirror to create an impressive statement piece for a drawing room, library or refined contemporary interior.
