The table incorporates two practical drawers to the front, including an ingenious lower drawer designed to give the appearance of three individual drawers while opening as a single generously proportioned compartment. This unusual arrangement creates an attractive multi-drawer façade while providing considerably more useful internal storage. The drawers retain their original brass handles and fittings, preserving the authentic period character of the piece and providing an attractive contrast against the warm tones of the timber. Particularly appealing is the decorative treatment throughout. Beautifully figured burr walnut is incorporated into the design and complemented by carefully executed crossbanding, creating tonal contrast and adding considerable visual richness to the façade.
