The bench features a generously proportioned rectangular seat with beautifully reeded edges, providing a subtle decorative element while retaining the simple and practical character of the design. Its solid construction and restrained form allow the natural qualities of the pitch pine to take centre stage. Throughout, the timber displays particularly attractive grain, rich warm colouring and established character, giving the bench an inviting appearance and considerable visual warmth. At 113 cm wide and only 27 cm deep, the bench is particularly versatile, providing useful seating while occupying relatively little floor space. Its compact depth makes it especially suitable for a hallway, entrance hall, bedroom, dining room or other area where space may be limited. The understated design allows the bench to complement traditional and country interiors while equally providing warmth and natural texture within a more contemporary setting. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and practical example combining richly figured pitch pine, attractive reeded detailing, strong construction and exceptionally versatile proportions within a simple and timeless design.
