The piece centres around an elegant brass bell suspended within the oak framework, creating an attractive and characterful decorative object with considerable period appeal. The bell itself features an engraved inscription to the front. Although the wording is difficult to decipher in full, the surviving engraving provides an appealing historical detail and contributes to the established character of the piece. The oak stand is particularly attractive, displaying rich natural grain and warm colouring throughout. Decorative brass elements and applied plaques provide an elegant contrast against the timber and demonstrate the attention to detail evident in its construction. Its combination of warm oak and polished brass gives the piece a particularly attractive appearance, while the architectural form of the stand creates a balanced and distinctive silhouette. Compact in scale, measuring just 29.5 cm wide, the bell is particularly well suited to display on a desk, library table, mantelpiece, console, side table or within a collection of decorative objects. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. An unusual and highly decorative Edwardian piece combining a finely crafted brass bell, engraved detailing and a richly coloured oak stand within an elegant and highly displayable form.
