The sculpture captures the distinctive contrast of Szikora-inspired exaggerated figures, presenting a remarkably slender gentleman standing at a pedestal washbasin while shaving, accompanied by an exuberantly proportioned woman relaxing in a bubble-filled bathtub. Filled with amusing miniature details, including rubber ducks, bathroom accessories, shaving implements and bath products, the composition rewards closer inspection and perfectly captures the light-hearted domestic humour for which this style of work is admired. The figures are individually modelled and hand-painted in a vibrant palette, with expressive features and deliberately exaggerated proportions creating an instantly recognisable and engaging character. Fashioned principally from painted resin and mounted upon a shaped wooden display plinth, the sculpture has considerable visual impact from multiple angles and makes an entertaining statement piece for a contemporary interior. A distinctive piece of contemporary decorative art combining British humour, figurative sculpture and Pop Art-inspired character.
