The upper section features a glazed cabinet fitted with three adjustable shelves, creating four versatile display areas suitable for books, ceramics, glassware, collectibles or objets d'art. The adjustable shelving allows the interior to accommodate pieces of varying heights. Below the glazed section is a useful central drawer, providing convenient storage for smaller items while maintaining the balanced architectural proportions of the bookcase. The lower section comprises a substantial double-door cupboard opening to reveal a single internal shelf, offering additional concealed storage. The cabinet is raised upon a sturdy plinth base, giving the tall structure a strong and well-proportioned foundation. The bookcase retains its original handles, fittings and key, preserving its authentic period character. Particularly attractive is the oak itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm colour and an appealing aged patina highlight the quality of the timber and complement the restrained Arts and Crafts aesthetic. Very well constructed and presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. For easier transportation and installation, the bookcase separates into two principal sections. Standing almost two metres high while measuring only 102 cm wide, this is a particularly useful and imposing piece, providing substantial display and storage capacity without requiring excessive wall space. Ideally suited to a library, study, drawing room or sophisticated country-house interior.
