An impressive and finely crafted early 20th-century English Edwardian display cabinet, beautifully constructed in richly grained oak and distinguished by its unusual combination of glazed display space, concealed storage and elegant architectural detailing.
The cabinet features two glazed display cupboards positioned to either side, each fitted with three adjustable shelves. This provides generous and highly flexible display space for books, ceramics, glassware, collectibles and decorative objects.
Positioned centrally is a blind-door cupboard incorporating two adjustable internal shelves, providing valuable concealed storage while creating an attractive contrast with the glazed sections on either side.
A small raised gallery crowns the cabinet, adding subtle architectural definition to the upper section.
The cabinet stands on elegant turned legs united by a supporting stretcher, creating a well-balanced silhouette while providing strength and stability.
Decorative detailing throughout further enhances the design, reflecting the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail evident in its construction.
The adjustable shelving is particularly practical, allowing the internal configuration to be altered to accommodate objects of varying heights and making the cabinet suitable for a wide variety of collections and display purposes.
Throughout, the oak displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established character, giving the cabinet considerable visual warmth and presence.
Despite its generous 124 cm width, the relatively shallow depth of only 33 cm makes this an exceptionally practical display cabinet, providing substantial storage without projecting excessively into the room.
Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin.
A highly desirable Edwardian cabinet combining richly grained oak, twin glazed display cupboards, adjustable shelving, concealed central storage, an attractive raised gallery and elegant turned legs with a supporting stretcher.
