The broad rectangular top provides a generous surface, while the relatively low height of only 60.5 cm gives the table an unusual and particularly appealing profile. Three drawers are arranged across the front, providing useful concealed storage while maintaining the balanced proportions of the façade. Each is fitted with decorative brass handles that complement the rich tones of the walnut. The table is raised upon substantial cabriole legs, one of the defining characteristics of Queen Anne furniture. Their pronounced curves provide the piece with a strong sculptural presence while retaining the elegance associated with the period. Particularly appealing is the walnut itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Rich, warm colour and a mature patina developed through centuries of age and use give the timber considerable depth and authentic period character. Very well constructed and presented in very good antique condition, particularly considering its considerable age, with appropriate signs of historic use that contribute to its individual character. Its combination of generous 102 cm width, substantial 57 cm depth and unusually low profile makes this a distinctive and highly versatile example of early furniture. Suitable as a low side table, occasional table or statement piece within a drawing room, library or sophisticated period interior. Dimensions: Height: 60.5 cm Width: 102 cm Depth: 57 cm See less
