The table features a compact top supported by an elegant framework, creating a light and refined silhouette. Delicate carved decoration introduces visual interest while maintaining the restrained character of the overall design. Particularly striking is the rich ebonised finish, giving the table its sophisticated near-black appearance and providing an attractive contrast to lighter furnishings and decorative objects. The dark surface also accentuates the carved details and architectural lines of the piece. At 75.5 cm high while measuring only 36 cm by 35 cm, this is an exceptionally compact and versatile table. Its tall, narrow proportions make it particularly well suited for areas where floor space is limited while still providing a useful display surface. The table would work beautifully as a lamp table, occasional table, plant stand or pedestal for displaying sculpture, ceramics and other decorative objects. Its restrained form and dark ebonised finish allow it to complement a wide variety of interiors, from traditional period settings to more contemporary schemes where it could provide an elegant contrasting accent. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A particularly attractive and highly versatile small English occasional table, combining elegant proportions, subtle carved decoration and a sophisticated ebonised finish.
