The vessels display the streamlined proportions associated with the Art Deco period, with rounded bodies, highly polished surfaces and bold geometric handles to the fitted lids. Each jug is fitted with a sweeping wicker-wrapped handle, introducing warmth and texture against the cool reflective finish of the metal. The combination of silver plate and natural wicker gives the pair a particularly sophisticated decorative quality. The hinged lids feature substantial sculptural thumbpieces, while the pronounced pouring spouts and generously rounded bodies create a strong and balanced silhouette. Decorative crests or emblems appear prominently on the fronts, adding further character and suggesting that the vessels may originally have been produced for a hotel, club, institution or private establishment. Presented together, the contrasting sizes create an especially attractive display and make the pieces suitable for a drinks trolley, dining room, bar or collection of early 20th-century serving ware.
