The cabinet features a useful drawer to the front, providing convenient storage for smaller items, while the lift-up top opens to reveal an additional concealed storage compartment. This unusual combination of storage features gives the piece considerable practicality while maintaining its refined appearance. Raised on elegant cabriole legs, the cabinet has a graceful and well-balanced silhouette. The gently curved supports lend the piece a distinctly French character and provide an attractive contrast to the more architectural form of the cabinet above. Throughout, the mahogany displays a particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established patina, highlighting the beauty and character of the timber. Its compact proportions make this an exceptionally versatile piece of furniture. Measuring just 57 cm wide and 40 cm deep, it could serve beautifully as a side cabinet, occasional table, bedside piece or decorative storage cabinet within a drawing room, bedroom, hallway or living space. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 19th-century French origin. A highly attractive and practical example of French period furniture, combining richly coloured mahogany, a front drawer, concealed lift-top storage and graceful cabriole legs within an elegant and compact design.
