The bookcase provides five open display levels, offering generous vertical storage while occupying a remarkably compact footprint. Each shelf is finished with a small raised gallery, an attractive and practical detail that helps retain books and decorative objects while adding architectural definition to the design. Its open construction gives the bookcase a light and refined appearance, allowing books, collectibles and objets d'art to remain easily accessible and prominently displayed. Particularly appealing is the mahogany itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Deep, warm colour and an appealing aged patina give the timber considerable richness and character. The narrow 49 cm width and exceptionally shallow 23 cm depth make this an especially versatile piece for interiors where space is limited, while its 123 cm height provides considerable storage capacity. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and practical example of traditional English furniture, ideally suited to a library, study, drawing room, hallway or bedroom. Its elegant proportions and understated design allow it to complement both period and sophisticated contemporary interiors.
