The hand-painted border is an accomplished imari-inspired design in green, pink, iron-red and orange enamels, heightened with generous burnished gilding and made without cobalt blue.

the central device is the crest of the barons hawke: a rising ermine hawk bearing a gold fleur-de-lis, with the strike motto and a baron's coronet above. It was made for edward hawke-harvey, 3rd baron hawke, as part of a commissioned formal dinner service.

both factory marks remain on the reverse: the impressed crowned fbb and the circular puce flight, barr & barr mark naming the royal porcelain works, worcester, and its london warehouse at no. 1 coventry street.

dimensions: weight 497 g; diameter 23.6 cm; height 2.8 cm.

condition: excellent antique condition, with only light rubbing to the gilding. The enamels and burnished gold decoration remain exceptionally well preserved. This piece has an attribution mark,
