This vintage Ionic-style marble pedestal presents a stately, architectural silhouette, with a slender square shaft rising to a broad, overhanging capital that recalls the scrolled crown of a classical column. Crafted from marble, the shaft is cut with deep, rhythmic vertical flutes that run the full height of each face, creating crisp shadow lines and a pronounced sense of upward movement. The capital is carved on its front with a pair of spiraling volutes flanking a small central ornament in the manner of an Ionic order, while the sides are worked in feathery, laurel-like leaf motifs that add a delicate, hand-carved richness. The stone is a soft, luminous white with faint veining, warming to cream and pale gold in places, and a gentle, mellow patina has developed across the surface. A soft ochre staining gathers at the base of the flutes, lending the piece the quiet, time-worn character of an architectural fragment. Monumental in feeling yet compact in scale, the pedestal offers a sculptural foundation with a refined, old-world presence.
Place this pedestal in an entry hall, living room corner, or library, beside a staircase, or on a sunroom floor, where it can hold a sculpture, a bust, a lush fern, or a large vase. It complements Neoclassical, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Mediterranean, and Grandmillennial interiors. To care for it, dust with a soft dry cloth, wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, and avoid acidic cleaners, which can etch marble, as well as prolonged moisture at the base. The pedestal measures 12.5 inches (318 mm) wide, 12.5 inches (318 mm) deep, and 27 inches (686 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a well-preserved finish, a light patina, minor staining at the base, and no visible chips or cracks. Add this elegant display piece to your collection today.
