This vintage handcrafted studio pottery jug presents a tall, cylindrical silhouette that rises from a flat, unglazed foot to a softly pinched pouring spout, paired with a long, sinuous strap handle that sweeps out in a graceful, calligraphic curve. Thrown in ceramic, the body is wrapped in pronounced horizontal ribbing that creates a rhythmic, tactile surface and catches the light along each ridge. A mottled, satiny glaze in verdant jade and soft celadon cascades from the rim in long, organic drips, pooling into deeper green streaks and small, glassy beads along the vertical runs. Toward the base, the glaze thins to reveal the warm, toasted terracotta clay beneath, creating a gentle gradient from cool green to earthy russet. The handle carries a darker, speckled olive-bronze glaze with a matte, slightly metallic depth. Visible throwing lines, small kiln speckles, and natural variations in tone confirm the handmade origin and make each side subtly different. Earthy, expressive, and quietly sculptural, the jug feels like a small landscape rendered in clay.
Place this jug on a kitchen counter, open shelf, dining table, or sideboard, or use it as a rustic vase for branches, dried grasses, or garden blooms. It complements Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Rustic, Japandi, and Farmhouse interiors. To care for it, hand wash gently with mild soap and warm water, avoid soaking or dishwashers, and dry thoroughly, as the exposed clay at the base is porous; it is best suited to decorative or dry display use. The jug measures 7.5 inches (191 mm) wide, 7.5 inches (191 mm) deep, and 10 inches (254 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a well-preserved glaze, minor handmade irregularities, and no visible cracks or chips. Add this characterful piece to your table today.
