An extraordinary investment piece of British aristocratic heritage, masterfully crafted by the world’s premier historic electroplaters.
Handcrafted by the legendary workshops of Elkington & Co. in Birmingham, England, circa 1876, this magnificent Victorian gallery serving tray represents the pinnacle of 19th-century English silver-plated metalwork. Measuring an impressive 21 inches from handle to handle, this heavy-gauge statement piece is an ideal acquisition for a grand dining room sideboard, a luxury bar setup, or a sophisticated traditional interior.
The tray features a spectacular, 2-inch raised vertical gallery wall adorned with a meticulously hand-chased scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf frieze border, framed beautifully by a classic beaded upper rim and a gadrooned lower base. The interior presentation surface showcases a stunning, hand-engraved aristocratic heraldic family estate crest featuring a knight's helmet, shield, and bird motif. The tray is flanked by two grand, heavily cast ornate scroll handles and rests elegantly on four original polished bun feet.
The underside rim bears a crisp, complete, and authentic Elkington & Co. hallmark matrix, including the crowned "E&Co" maker badge, the "EPGS" (Electroplated German Silver) heavy-gauge material classification, and the historical gothic letter date stamp.
