This listing is for an authentic pair of vintage François Carré style "Sunburst" (or Pinwheel) spring steel garden armchairs. Originally conceived in 19th-century France and widely celebrated during the American Art Deco era, these highly collectible chairs are famous for their radiant, fan-slat design and exceptional comfort.
Crafted entirely from heavy-duty spring steel, the unique cantilevered engineering allows for a gentle, flexible bounce when seated. This pair features a stunning concentric sunburst pattern on both the backs and the seats, beautifully complemented by elegant, scrolled ribbon arms and fluidly curved legs.
Both chairs are structurally original, solid, and exceptionally sturdy. The radiating metal slats remain firmly attached to their central hubs with zero structural cracks or loose welds. They have been refreshed with a newer coat of crisp white paint, showing only very minor, superficial wear from light outdoor display.
A timeless statement pair of high-society garden furniture ready to bring instant architectural character to any interior or exterior space.
