An extraordinary fusion of antique craftsmanship and contemporary gothic design, The Punish Her is a one-of-a-kind sculptural armchair handcrafted by Boston Reclaimed.

Originally an antique Chinese-style wooden armchair, believed to date to approximately 1800–1840, this distinctive piece was acquired with a damaged backrest and creatively reimagined into a striking work of functional art.

The centerpiece is a dramatic skull backrest, individually carved from a reclaimed antique red oak tabletop. The artist used a router and angle grinder to sculpt the design, creating unique contours, textures, and dimensional details.

The entire chair was finished with black oil-based Minwax stain and protected with more than five coats of commercial-grade water-based floor polyurethane. Its original construction was reglued and reinforced with nails and screws.

Despite its dramatic, sculptural appearance, the chair is remarkably comfortable. Its elevated seat, supportive armrests, and integrated wooden footrest create a distinctive seating experience. The built-in footrest provides a convenient place to rest your feet while seated, complementing the chair’s higher-than-average seating position.

Four discreet eye hooks—two positioned behind the chair and two underneath—were incorporated into the design and remain concealed from standard front and side views.

Combining reclaimed materials, traditional furniture construction, and contemporary artistic expression, The Punish Her is an original creation rather than a conventional antique restoration or mass-produced reproduction.

Its dramatic silhouette makes it an exceptional statement piece for gothic-inspired interiors, eclectic collections, creative studios, or gallery settings.
