This is a beautifully detailed, antique-style Chinese bronze figure of Shakyamuni Buddha. The Buddha is seated in a meditative pose upon a stepped rectangular base, with one hand raised in a gesture of reassurance and the other resting on the knee. The figure is dressed in flowing robes with deeply carved, elegant drapery folds.
The piece features a rich, dark patina with extensive gold-gilt highlighting on the face, chest, robes, and the large, circular flaming halo behind the head. Traces of red cinnabar are visible, adding depth and character to the sculpture. The facial expression is serene and peaceful, making this a wonderful piece for a meditation space, an altar, or as a distinguished addition to any collection of Asian religious art.
