This piece of pottery was decorated by the renowned Rookwood decorative designer Sara Sax who is recognized as the finest woman decorative designer in the history of Rookwood and only surpassed by two other male Rookwood designers. Her decorative innovations are legendary.. This piece is usually decorated with corn in corresponding with it being a whiskey jug, but Mrs. Sacks and one of her more creative moments decided to decorate it as a beer jug, using hops as a decoration in place of corn stalks.
This rare design is in what I would describe as close to gem mint condition as possible. The only defect I find is a tiny piece of the original cork chipped off in terms of raising and cloudiness there is none visible to the naked eye. Of course as an all older standard Glades pieces under high magnification you will see crazy on this piece under 20 magnification you can see fine very well. Patterned minuscule crazing for anyone who collects standard glaze Rookwood. This would certainly be a prize possession. ! See less
