The bookcase is arranged across three individual glazed sections, each providing generous and easily accessible storage. The glazed fronts allow books, collectibles and decorative objects to remain clearly visible while helping to protect the contents from dust. Each section offers a different internal height, allowing the bookcase to accommodate books and objects of varying proportions. The generous lower and middle compartments are particularly useful for larger volumes, while the upper section provides an attractive space for smaller books or collectibles. The bookcase stands upon a substantial plinth base, giving the piece a strong and well-balanced appearance. Original knob handles are retained to the glazed fronts, contributing to its authentic period character and understated traditional design. Throughout, the mahogany displays a particularly attractive natural grain with a deep, rich colour and established patina, highlighting both the quality of the timber and the craftsmanship of its construction. At 86.5 cm wide and only 28 cm deep, the bookcase provides excellent storage capacity while maintaining a relatively compact footprint. Its shallow depth makes it especially versatile for a library, study, living room, hallway or office where conventional deeper bookcases may occupy too much space. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate minor signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable example of the classic Globe Wernicke-style sectional bookcase, combining rich mahogany, practical glazed storage and handsome period proportions in a timeless and exceptionally usable design.
