The sloping writing surface sits above a bank of side drawers, and the stationery compartment at the top rises on its mechanism to reveal fitted letter storage. Deep carving, rich old mahogany, and a footprint of only 22 inches wide make this a sculptural desk that fits where a full-size desk cannot. Wonderful in a small study, a bedroom corner, a library, or an entry where you want something with history. See less

The mahogany carries minor scratches, small finish losses, and the mellow patina of nearly two centuries of use, as photographed. All drawers work properly. Please note that while the pigeonhole cubbies on top are theoretically supposed to drop down into the top of the desk, the mechanism does not hold it in the down position. As such, the desk will always be displayed as pictured with the cubbies on top unless the mechanism can be adjusted. less
